Music
I've been writing songs for as long as I've been writing poems, often combining the two. At age 7 or so I set a Child's Garden of Verses to music. I even had a little song about that ad that appeared in the back of comic books about the weak guy who got sand kicked in his face at the beach all the time.
I took guitar lessons in the 90s and still play, but when I write songs I avoid the tough chords, so that should tell you something.
I'm a music fanatic. My influences include Ron Sexsmith, Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Lynn Miles, Emm Gryner, Ane Brun, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Joan Jett, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Elvis Costello, the Who, the Black Keys, Robert Johnston, Junior Parker and a whole bunch more I'm forgetting right now.
I'm in the process of making a cd with the help of a good friend who has a home recording studio.
here are a few of the songs i've written in the past year or so, recorded with the help of Roland Prevost. i sing and play the guitar on all of them except Live For Today, which features the excellent guitar playing of Roland Prevost. i owe a debt of gratitude to my friend, Roland, recording and mixing whiz. hope you enjoy...
