Erotic Fiction

I am currently on hiatus from smut writing in order to concentrate on poetry projects; however, my reasons for writing smut are not that different from my reasons for trying to write poetry. It's constraint-based writing to some extent. I've heard some people claim that erotic fiction can't be that interesting because there's only so much one can write about sex without it being repetitive and familiar. I see this as the challenge and I don't agree with that perspective. I write sexually explicit fiction because sex fascinates me and because I enjoy exploring taboos and flouting prudish societal convention. Plus, it's damn fun to write about sex and sometimes it even gets me laid.
